You’d be forgiven for thinking you’ve seen it before but on the right, coming from producer Jerry Bruckheimer, is the first official image of Johnny Depp back in character as Captain Jack Sparrow for the upcoming fifth Pirates of the Caribbean movie; officially titled Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (not Pirates Of The Caribbean 5).
Dead Men Tell No Tales will see Jack facing off against an old enemy (played by Skyfall’s Javier Bardem) who, along with a slew of ghost pirates, escapes the Devil’s Triangle and makes it his mission to start killing every pirate in the Caribbean. Understandably Jack’s not too happy and will find himself getting into all manner of scrapes (probably making and breaking a fair few deals) along the way to stopping Salazar (Bardem); including tracking down the legendary Trident of Poseidon (an artefact which gives its possessor complete control over the seas).
Geoffrey Rush, Stephen Graham, Orlando Bloom, and Kevin McNally are all returning to the franchise for the Espen Sandberg and Joachim Rønning (Kon-Tiki) directed film, and despite reports of scripts changes, weather problems and on-set injuries causing delays Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is still due to set sail on July 7th 2017 in both the US and UK.
