Jude Law headlines the Young Pope trailer

Below you’ll find the first evocative trailer for The Young Pope; the upcoming miniseries created as part of a collaboration between Sky, HBO, and Canal Plus, and seeing Sherlock Holmes star Jude Law play the world’s first American Pope.

Law stars as Lenny Belardo, also known as Pius XIII, and while the College of Cardinals may have chosen him to be the head of the Catholic Church, there are those within the faith who’d prefer he wasn’t in charge of the institution, and now the head of the secretive Vatican State; likely taking offence to his overly cocky, cigarette-smoking, attitude, and his ideas of revolution.

Diane Keaton (The Godfather), Silvio Orlando (Il Caimano), Ludivine Sagnier (Mesrine), and James Cromwell (I, Robot) will all co-star in the Paolo Sorrentino (The Great Beauty) written and directed miniseries, which is due to hit Sky Atlantic on October 27th.
