Jurassic Park Heads to the IMAX

Despite being released a nearly twenty years ago, Jurassic Park is still often discussed; thanks to its revolutionary use of visual effects; and now, with the Blu-ray release of Steven Spielberg’s classic adventure (and its two sequels) a little over a month away, fans will once again get to experience this masterpiece on the big screen (and introduce a whole new generation to the island of dinosaurs he created), when it gets its theatrical re-release on September 23rd.

Starring Richard Attenborough (The Great Escape) as a multimillionaire who unveils his latest theme park to a couple of dinosaur experts (The Tudors’ Sam Neil, and Rambling Roses’ Laura Dern), a lawyer (Martin Ferro, Heat), and a mathematician (Jeff Goldblum, Independence Day), Jurassic Park centers on a theme park like no other; where the attractions are living, breathing, dinosaurs (cloned through advanced technology), that just happen to break loose, and force the park visitors to fight for their very survival.

Upon its release Jurassic Park made a huge influence on popular culture (not least by getting a whole generation of children interested in dinosaurs), and stormed the global Box Office; propelling its two sequels on to generate a combined gross for the trilogy of nearly $2 billion; and now that it’s been digitally restored and remastered (with exceptional picture and audio quality), can be enjoyed on the big screen like never before.

Jurassic Park’s newly remastered, ‘flawless’, high definition, picture and audio will not only be filling out regular cinemas nationwide, but also showcased via the wonder of IMAX (Jurassic Park will be playing at the BFI IMAX from 23 September until 6 October); in order to enhance the experience that much more, and once again remind film-fans that not only was Jurassic Park a technical marvel, but that it was wonderfully shot, well acted, and, most of all, an incredibly fun film.

After finishing its cinematic re-run, Jurassic Park (along with The Lost World: Jurassic Park, and Jurassic Park III) will then be coming to Blu-ray on October 24th in the UK, and on October 25th in the US, and is being released in a trio of different editions (all available to pre-order now by clicking their respective titles, or the product links below the trailer); including the entrance level Jurassic Park Ultimate Trilogy (consisting of the three films, and their digital counterparts), as well as the Jurassic Park Ultimate Trilogy Limited Collector’s Edition (a newly packaged release containing all three films, and their digital counterparts), and the Jurassic Park Trilogy Ultimate Collector’s Edition (consisting of the three films; in Ultimate Trilogy packaging; their digital counterparts, a certificate of authenticity, and a deluxe T-Rex model); that are as close as you can get, to seeing the dinosaurs as they should be, for real, back in the theatre.

More information about screening dates and times at the BFI IMAX can be found here, or to find local listings simply consult your local cinema.
