Keith Carradine Joins TNT Western Gateway

An actor who’s undeniably suited to the genre, Keith Carradine; who recently starred in Cowboys & Aliens, but will be forever remembered for playing the iconic Wild Bill Hickock in HBO’s Deadwood; has just been tapped to star in an upcoming western pilot for TNT, titled Gateway (otherwise known as Tin Star).

Dubbed as an action/adventure project that (like Deadwood) is named after the town in which it is set, Gateway takes place in the Colorado town during the 1880s, and tells the tale of three brothers who, after seeing their sheriff father murdered, step in to battle a corrupt cattle baron, and save their town.

Carradine is due to star as a tired homesteader named Frank Saar, who despite being worn down by the hardships of the west, steps in to become a surrogate-father-figure to the three men, in the pilot which is also due to star Cam Gigandet (Easy A); as one of the three brothers; will be directed by Danny Cannon (Nikita), has been written by Bruce C. McKenna (The Pacific), and will hopefully be picked up for syndication next season.
