Leonardo DiCaprio Joins The Crowded Room

Leonardo DiCaprioDespite yet another year without Leonardo DiCaprio winning an Oscar, The Wolf Of Wall Street star hasn’t decided to turn in his acting shoes just yet, and has in fact just signed on to a brand new project; The Crowded Room.

Due to be produced under DiCaprio’s Appian Way production banner, The Crowded Room is being adapted from Daniel Keyes non-fiction book, an account of the first person to ever successfully use multiple personality disorder as a legal defence.

Leo will step into the role of Billy Milligan, the man who was charged with armed robbery and multiple counts of rape in the ‘70s, but successfully convinced a jury it was one of his alternate personalities committing the crimes, and not actually him. Meaning Leo will not only have to play Milligan, but the 24 personalities who inhabited his body; including a Yugoslavian blamed for the armed robbery, a lesbian (the rapist), and a proper English gent named Arthur.

While it’s hard to say at this point whether or not The Crowded Room count be an awards contender (and finally bag Leo his much deserved Oscar), there’s certainly a lot of potential for something interesting with the film which is being scripted by Jason Smilovia (Lucky Number Slevin) and unknown Todd Katzberg, ahead of an as yet unannounced release date.

Leonardo DiCaprio will next be seen in The Revenant (the upcoming revenge movie from Birdman director Alejandro González Iñárritu) next January.
