Machete Kills Poster and Start Date

While the tongue-in-cheek exploitation-fest that was Machete may not have been everyone’s cup of tea, there’s no denying it was a thoroughly fun ride, and loved by all those viewers who could stomach it’s OTT violence, plot-holes, script problems, acting issues, and cheese; fans who now have cause to rejoice, as its sequel Machete Kills is shooting this April.

Defining Machete as “a super hero” Robert Rodriguez (co-director and writer of the first movie) has said that “fan response to the Machete character has been fanatical since his first appearance” and that “Machete Kills will be bigger and more ambitious than the first time.”

Written by Kyle Ward (who’s also credited with the stalled Kane & Lynch adaptation), and polished by Robert Rodriguez, the sequel will find Machete (once again played Danny Trejo) working for the US government, and tracking down a Mexican cartel leader who’s working with an eccentric billionaire to terrorize the globe with a space-based weapon, in the film which is yet to announce an official release date.
