The upcoming biopic of the drug-dealing biker Sam Childers; who found God and became an activist for child soldiers in Sudan; which has been directed by Marc Forster (Quantum of Solace), saw Gerard Butler (Law Abiding Citizen) take on the leading role, and has had a UK release scheduled for sometime, has now also acquired a US release date, courtesy of Relativity Media.
Written by the relatively unknown screenwriter Jason Keller, Machine Gun Preacher also stars Michelle Monaghan (Source Code) and Michael Shannon (Boardwalk Empire), and is due receive a limited release in the US on September 23rd (in New York and L.A.) before eventually being rolled out to more locations, and before Lionsgate releases the film on January 6th in the UK.
