We’ve already learned Margot Robbie will play disgraced former ice-skater Tonya Harding in the upcoming biopic I, Tonya, but now now who’ll be directing; as Lars And The Real Girl‘s Craig Gillespie has just signed on to pick up the megaphone.

The Wolf Of Wall Street star and current Hollywood hot-property Robbie will play the titular Tonya; a talented skater initially viewed as the likeable underdog, until she and her then-husband Jeff Gillooly attacked skating rival Nancy Kerrigan with a police baton, unsuccessfully attempting to end her skating career (Kerrigan eventually went on to compete int he 1994 Olympic Games).

Steven Rogers is on script duty for this one, and has done his research by not only viewing the footage (the attack was all caught on camera), but also speaking to both Harding and Gillooly, and though both the headliner and director are now in place we’re still waiting for an official release date for I, Tonya to be announced.

Robbie however will be back in your local multiplex numerous times before then, with big releases such as Legend of Tarzan and Suicide Squad mere weeks away.
