Men in Black III Gets Start Date

After a third Men in Black film was officially announced back in April, we’ve learned that Will Smith (Bad Boys) and Tommy Lee Jones (Volcano) will both be returning; as the comical agent Jay and his experienced partner Kay respectively; as the titular Men in Black, and that the new movie’s plot will involve the intergalactic immigration officers time traveling for the first time in the series.

Will Smith’s Agent Jay will be traveling back in time to 1969 (suggesting that the plot may have something to do with the moon landing) and end up meeting a much younger version of Jones’ Agent Kay; who will be played by Josh Brolin (No Country For Old Men); in his efforts to save the Earth once again by defeating the film’s Villain Yaz; who will be played by The Flight of the Conchords star Jemaine Clement.

Director Barry Sonnenfeld (Wild Wild West) will be returning to direct MIB:III, which will be the first film in the series to be released in 3D, and is due to start filming this next month (September) in New York; which means, like the Untitled Spider-Man Reboot, that there will be over a year of post-production time that can be put to good use finalizing the numerous effects the film is bound to contain; ahead of its release on May 25th 2012.
