Michael Bay Leaving Transformers Franchise

Despite having exploded the giant robots to Box Office success three times (against the wishes of films critics across the globe; who’ve panned the pics for a number of reasons) it looks as if director Michael Bay will soon be leaving the Transformers franchise for good; after directing Transformers 4 that is.

Bay’s already attached to direct Transformers 4, but talking to The LA Times at the recent opening of the Transformers theme park ride at Universal Studios in California, the director let-slip that the next autobot/decepticon outing will be his last; adding that he’ll be setting up the franchise to pass on to “the next guy.”

It’s clearly far too early to even hazard a guess as to who “the next guy” will be, but it’ll still be a while before Bay leaves; as Transformers 4, its newly designed robots, and entirely new cast, won’t be hitting the big screen until June 27th 2014.
