New Dawn; the upcoming fourth film in the Underworld franchise (which is clearly using a Twilight inspired name); just began shooting in Vancouver, and has now added a male lead to the cast, in the form of Takers‘ star Michael Ealy; who’s due to appear alongside returning franchise star Kate Beckinsale (Whiteout).

Ealy is due to star in the action/fantasy movie as a cop who starts out hunting Beckinsale’s vampiress Selene; who along with her daughter Nissa (a vampire/werewolf hybrid) is on the run from a large corporation who are looking to create an army of super-Lycans (werewolves) for use in Underworld’s on-going vampires vs. werewolves battle; until he eventually joins forces with the PVC-catsuit wearing heroine to face down a greater foe.

Underworld: New Dawn is being directed by Shelter’s Mans Marlin and Bjorn Stein, from a script by John Hlavin and J Michael Straczynski (Babylon 5), and is due to make its 3D release in the franchise’s traditional January slot, next year.
