Michael Keaton wanted for Spider-Man: Homecoming

He won huge acclaim for his performance in Birdman, delivered another suitably strong showing in Spotlight, but many still think of Michael Keaton as Batman (maybe because he’s the best Batman we’ve had?). So, given his comic-book movie credibility, it should be no surprise to learn producers of the upcoming Spider-Man movie Spider-Man: Homecoming are looking at Keaton to play the film’s villain.

Tom Holland will be picking up Peter Parker’s part (first appearing as the beloved web-slinger in Captain America: Civil War later this month), and although we don’t know exactly who Keaton’s villain could be (it’s worth stressing that he’s only in early talks at this stage, so everything is still subject to change) we do know he would be fighting a high-school age Peter Parker who’ll be skipping the origin story this time round, but still dealing with plenty of teen-angst.

Marisa Tomei (The Wrestler) is on board to play Aunt May in the Jon Watts (Cop Car) directed film which has been scripted by John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein (Vacation), will co-star singer Zendaya, and is due to be released on July 7th next year.
