Michael Kenneth Williams Joins The Wu-Tang Clan

Best known as Omar from The Wire, and currently seen cooking up trouble (and booze) in Boardwalk Empire (as Chalky White), Michael Kenneth Williams has just signed on to play the lead role in Dirty White Boy; the upcoming biopic of Wu-Tang Clan founding member Ol’ Dirty Bastard (aka Russell Jones).

Following ODB in his later years, as he prepared a musical comeback following a three-year stay in prison, Dirty White Boy will tell the tale of how an inexperienced VH1 production assistant talked his way into becoming ODB’s manager, and actually gave ODB a decent second shot (before his fatal overdose in 2004).

Dirty White Boy is currently lacking a release date, but has been scripted by Brent Hoff (who previously worked at VH1), and is due to be directed by Joaquin Baca-Asay (We Own The Night).
