Midnight Run 2 Underway

It’s been on the cards for nearly 25 years, but now it looks as if Universal are finally moving forward with a sequel to 1988’s Midnight Run, and are looking to have Tower Heist’s Brett Ratner direct (from a script written by Four Brothers’ David Elliott and Paul Lovett).

Aiming to continue the storyline of the original movie; which saw Robert De Niro’s bounty-hunter character setting the mob accountant (played by Beethoven’s Charles Grodin) free, and walking away with enough cash to open his very own coffee shop, the new movie would aim to tempt a retired Grodin back into the film business (as he’s not appeared in a film for the last six years, but is apparently open to once again starring opposite De Niro), and once again have De Niro reprise his role as Jack Walsh; prospects which are dividing fans of the original, as some are overjoyed to be hearing about Midnight Run 2, while others simply want to leave the original as an enjoyable stand-alone movie.
