New Conan the Barbarian Poster

We’ve been getting a steady stream of goodies promoting the upcoming Conan the Barbarian movie from director Marcus Nispel (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre); most recent of which was the action-packed theatrical trailer; but now we have a brand new poster, which is available to view below.

No doubt pleasing fans of the Robert E. Howard novels, the new poster (like all previous artwork, and press releases) seems to be sticking extremely closely to classic Conan imagery; and reaffirming that while the movie will contain an original story, it it still remains very close to the source material.

Jason Momoa (Stargate Atlantis) stars as the titular barbarian, alongside Stephen Lang (Avatar), Rose McGowan (Charmed), Rachel Nichols (Star Trek), and Ron Perlman (Hellboy), in the thankfully R-rated film that screenwriter Sean Hood insists is “unflinching in its depiction of barbarism, slavery, and warfare”, adding that “yes, you’ll see blood and boobs, but this isn’t a Cinemax movie; it’s epic action/fantasy, and yes it’s rated R!”

Conan the Barbarian will be released in both the US and UK on August 19th, in Real-D 3D.
