Now that shooting has finally wrapped on the fourth installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise (subtitled On Stranger Tides), Disney are beginning to slowly drip-feed fans with nuggets of information, posters, pictures, and trailers, the latest of which comprises of the newly released images which can be seen below.

Johnny Depp (Public Enemies) will once again be reprising his role as the eccentric rogue Captain Jack Sparrow; who’s previous adventures have seen him turn into an immortal living skeleton, and visit the very end of the world; joined once again by series regulars Geoffrey Rush (Shakespeare in Love); as the hateful Captain Barbossa; and Kevin McNally (Entrapment); as his faithful servant Gibbs.

As hinted at in the last movie, Jack will spend the new film hunting for the illustrious Fountain of Youth; after a woman from his past appears, forces him aboard the ship of the famously formidable pirate Blackbeard (the Queen Anne’s Revenge), and sets him on off his latest adventure.

Penelope Cruz will be appearing as Angelica; the female pirate who was romantically linked to Sparrow in the past (once again reuniting with Depp after playing his love interest in Blow); with Ian McShane (Deadwood) portraying the villainous Blackbeard (who terrifies Jack almost as much as his ex), and supporting roles are being filled by Richard Griffiths (Harry Potter), Keith Richards (of the Rolling Stones), and Sam Claflin (The Pillars of the Earth).

Yet despite many fans thinking the third film would have been Jack’s final outing, it appears though even Pirates 4 will not be the final adventure of Jack Sparrow; as while no official announcements have been made; rumour has it that Disney have been asking key players to free up a block of time “in the near future” to film both a fifth, and sixth, Pirates of the Caribbean back-to-back, which would then be released as two movies, similar to Pirates 2 and 3.

However Pirates 5 and 6 are still unofficial at this time, yet the chatter suggest that Disney obviously have faith in the new movie, which will be getting its first official trailer released on Monday, and is due for release in the U.K. on May 18th next year, and May 20th in the U.S.
