New Title for Prometheus 2

With news recently breaking that director Ridley Scott is looking to expand the Prometheus universe (planning both a second and third movie in the franchise), we now have an official title for the planned Prometheus 2.

Speaking recently to HeyUGuys, Ridley revealed Prometheus 2 would be known as Alien: Paradise Lost.

“It’s not going to be Prometheus 2. You know the poem [by John Milton]? It sounds intellectual, but there’s a similarity to it… We’re heading back to why and how and when the [Alien] beast was invented… We’ll go back into the back door of the very first Alien.”

Scott has said “the whole point of it is to explain the Alien franchise and to explain the how and why of the creation of the Alien itself,” – something many fans were hoping to see much more of in the first Prometheus. Expanding he also says. “I always saw the Alien as a type of biological warfare. For me, the original spaceship that I call the croissant was a battleship that contains these biomechanoid creatures, that are all about destruction.”

Alien: Paradise Lost is currently in pre-production, and set for Scott to direct from a Michael Green script ahead of a May 30th 2017 release date. Though while Ridley may be expanding his Prometheus universe indefinitely, many fans are hoping to see it dropped fairly soon; as the proposed Alien 5 (coming from District 9 director Neill Blomkamp, picking up after Aliens, and potentially bring both Sigourney Weaver and Michael Beihn back into the fray) is apparently on hold until Prometheus is done and dusted.
