No Plans For Iron Man 4 Says Robert Downey Jr.

Iron Man 3 07Despite unequivocally being the biggest draw in the Avengers films, and storming the Box Office on his solo ventures (with Iron Man 3 raking in a whopping $1.2 billion at the worldwide Box Office), star Robert Downey Jr. recently stated there are no further plans for any more stand-alone Iron Man movies.

Speaking at the Toronto International Film Festival, Downey broke the news which will disappoint legions of Marvel superhero fans who have been dying for confirmation of Iron Man 4, although all is not lost as Downey will be returning as Tony Stark/Iron Man in Avengers: Age Of Ultron next year (due to be released on April 24th in the UK, before making its official US release date on May 1st 2015).

For those who like to hear it straight from the horse’s mouth, Robert’s exact words were “No, there’s no plan for a fourth Iron Man.” Contracts may have something to do with that (as there was a sticking point a while back when it looked as if RDJ may not have returned as Iron Man at all), as Downey will undoubtedly want a bigger piece of the profits next time out. Though given Iron Man is the highest earning Marvel property cinematically, you’d be mad to assume the studio wouldn’t at least be thinking about Iron Man 4.
