Oscars 2016: Winners Announced

Oscars Statue

This morning saw the 88th Academy Awards ceremony took place in the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles. Presented by returning host Chris Rock, who last hosted in 2005 and did a sterling job (from his opening monologue addressing the #OscarsSoWhite controversy, onwards), it was a night/morning of glitz, glam, and a celebration of the past year of film; and you can find out exactly which films were honoured by browsing the full list of 2016 Oscars winners below.

A notable evening as Leonardo DiCaprio finally picked up his first Best Actor Oscar for The Revenant (a film which itself did well, scoring two of the most prized awards – not its only ones – from its 12 nominations), and Mad Max: Fury Road cleaned up in the technical categories to bag to most golden statues of the evening.

As always you can let us know your thoughts on the nominations; what’s missing, what didn’t deserve to be included, or what/who you want to win; in the comments section below.
