Paradise Lost, Lost

Sci-fi fans the world over were eagerly looking forward to the eventual release of the Alex Proyas (I, Robot) directed Paradise Lost, starring The Hangover‘s Bradley Cooper, but a spanner was thrown in the works when the film was put on hold last December, and now things have gone downhill again; as Paradise Lost has been cancelled, and officially scrapped by Legendary Pictures.

Inspired by John Milton’s classic poem, the film had apparently grown so much in scale scale that the studio weren’t prepared to foot the bill, for what would have become an absolutely massive movie; given the huge visual effects needed to capture the various visions and battles; even though the crew were busy assembling in Australia.

That means stars Bradley Cooper, Casey Affleck, Benjamin Walker, Diego Boneta, and Camilla Belle will now have another gap in their schedules (though it’s likely Cooper’s will have no problem being filled), yet while Paradise Lost has been cancelled, it might not be time to count it out just yet, as the sci-fi epic has been placed on the scrap heap once before and did eventually bounce back.
