Punisher TV Series confirmed by Netflix

It’d been rumoured since well before Netflix launched their second season of Daredevil and the general public had even a glimpse of how amazing, intense, brutal, and emotionally stirring the perfectly cast Jon Bernthal was in the role of Frank Castle, but now it’s official; Netflix have commissioned a full series order for The Punisher.

Comic-book, film, and TV fans around the world are delighted we’re getting to see more of Bernthal’s dark take on the character; the ex-marine who, following the untimely death of his family, takes to the streets with his own, extremely violent and unforgiving, form of vigilante justice.

Even more enticing is the fact Steve Lightfoot (known for his extensive work on NBC’s Hannibal series) will be The Punisher‘s showrunner, writer, and executive producer, and although we don’t know exactly when Frank’s stand-alone series will appear, whether or not he’ll be making an appearance in The Defenders (Netflix’s upcoming superhero crossover show) or any of the other upcoming Marvel/Netflix offerings, it’s fantastic news, and a show which, for us and Frank legions of fans, simply can’t come fast enough.
