Spin-offs tend to tread on uneven ground, and can be very hit or miss, but the upcoming Shrek spin-off Puss in Boots (also named after its titular character) looks to be going down a treat with early audiences, proved to be a massive hit at Empire Presents Big Screen (where a couple of lengthy clips were shown), and has just had a new motion poster released online (now available to view below).

In the film, set several years before the furry hero met up with Shrek and Donkey, Puss (Antonio Banderas, The Mask of Zorro) sets out to steal the infamous goose that lays the golden eggs, and rubs up against the likes of Humpty Dumpty (Zach Galifianakis, The Hangover), and the alluring street-smart Kitty (Salma Hayek).

Also featuring the voice talents of Billy Bob Thornton (Faster) and Walt Dorn (the narrator from the Shrek movies), Puss in Boots is due to receive its 3D release on November 4th in the US, before crossing the pond to be released in the UK on December 9th (just in time for Christmas).
