Quentin Tarantino Working on Spaghetti Western?

Earlier today The Playlist picked up on a story originating over at Movieplayer; where Italian actor Franco Nero (Die Hard 2) let slip that he’s currently working on a new type of “Spaghetti Western” project with none other than Pulp Fiction director Quentin Tarantino.

Whilst Tarantino hasn’t confirmed any “Spaghetti Western” project as of yet, he has said in the past that he’s a big fan of the genre, and that’d he’d love to make a western in the future; meaning seeing his name attached to a new “Spaghetti Western” called The Angel, The Bad and The Wise (as Nero stated the new film is to be called), isn’t too hard to imagine.

It’s even easier to imagine Tarantino being attached when considering that Nero claims the movie will be “a tribute to Sergio Leone (The Good, the Bad and the Ugly)” and has “already been signed by a dozen people who will be part of the project”; including Keith Carradine (who’s a perfect fit for the western genre; having played one of the most memorable characters in Deadwood, and soon to be seen in Cowboys & Aliens), Treat Williams (127 Hours), and a total of fifteen Americans who “want to do this movie.”

If it does come together, The Angel, The Bad and The Wise will likely be produced outside of Italy (according to Franco); in the United States; although so far there’s still no word on whether or not Tarantino would direct, or simply act as a producer, and until an official confirmation is given, the news should still be treated as a rumour (albeit a rather intriguing rumour).

***Update***
The folks over at Ain’t it Cool News have delved into the story a little deeper (contacting sources close to Tarantino), and found that whilst the title suggested by Franco Nero is completely wrong, Tarantino is writing a new film, his next film will be a spaghetti western, and not only will he once again be using Inglorious Basterds star Christoph Waltz, but he is planning to start shooting this year; in Italy and Spain.
