After introducing 3D into the series in a big way with the visually stunning Resident Evil: Afterlife, director Paul WS Anderson is returning to direct the fifth film in the Resident Evil saga; Resident Evil: Retribution; which once again places his real-life wife Milla Jovovich as the ass-kicking, zombie-hating, heroine Alice, and recently had its theatrical trailer released online (now available to view below).
Looking to bring much of the same to the franchise’s fifth installment (a sound move seen as how Afterlife was the highest grossing Resident Evil movie to date), Retribution will delve a little bit deeper into Alice’s past life (that is her life pre-zombie outbreak, as Retribution isn’t likely to be taking a look at reincarnation), and once again bringing us a slew of returning actors we all thought we’d seen the last of; including Michelle Rodriguez, Oded Fehr, and Sienna Guillory; as well as seeing Shawn Roberts return as Albert Wesker, and helping the dastardly Umbrella Corporation inch film-by-film closer to their goal of complete global destruction.
Resident Evil: Retribution is once again being released in 3D (again a wise move, as our review shows that the format really made Afterlife what it was), and is due to makes its official release date on September 14th in the US, and on September 28th in the UK.
