Return of ALF Imminent

Ok, imminent may be a bit of an overstatement, but fans of the undeniably amazing cult TV show that was ALF, and the TV movie Project ALF, will be overjoyed to hear that their favourite alien life form (ALF) will soon be making a comeback, as Sony has just nabbed the rights to the sit-com, and are looking to produce a brand new CGI/live action movie.

While the idea of a CGI ALF goes against everything that people know, remember, and love about the TV show; which centered around a wisecracking alien named Gordon Shumway, who crash landed on Earth and came to live with the Tanner family (constantly hiding from Government forces who were looking to capture and experiment on him); the new movie is being produced by Jordan Kerner (The Smurfs), and will retain the services of master puppeteer Paul Fusco; the man responsible for ALF’s iconic voice.

Despite the fact it’d be great to see ALF head a little further down the road traveled by Ted, than up the family-friendly garden path, Kerner’s involvement suggests ALF would be a more family friendly movie (and probably keep ALF’s beer-swigging, and cat-eating, down to a minimum), though the tone could easily shift when a writer and director eventually become attached, and ALF finally makes it to the big screen.
