Rhys Ifans to star in Bond 23?

While it’s still technically a rumour (as no official announcement has been made as of yet) The Telegraph are reporting that Mr. Nice star Rhys Ifans could be joining the cast of the next James Bond movie (currently going under the title Bond 23 until an official title is announced).

While it’s not clear exactly who Ifans would play, it has been rumoured that the character of Miss Moneypenny will be making a return to the franchise (and be portrayed by Naomie Harris, 28 Days Later), and that Q (or someone like Q) could be introduced as Bond’s new gadget supplier; and if that’s true it wouldn’t be to hard to imagine the often quirky Welshman picking up the part.

Javier Bardem (No Country for Old Men) has also been confirmed as playing the film’s main villain, and will join both Ralph Fiennes (who can currently be seen playing Voldermort in the final Harry Potter movie) and Judi Dench (who will be reprising the role of M.; Bond’s boss; that she has held since the Pierce Brosnan days) in the Sam Mendes (American Beauty) directed movie that’s due to be filmed mainly in South Africa, and will be released on October 26th 2012 in the UK, and on November 9th 2012.
