Rise of the Apes Sequel Gets Release Date and Title

Other than the fact that both director Rupert Wyatt, and star Andy Serkis (who’s brilliant motion capture work gave life to the true star of the film; head ape Caesar), will be returning, there’s little known about the upcoming Rise of the Planet of the Apes sequel, though it has now been given an official release date.

Due to be scripted by Scott Z Burns (Contagion) and obviously continue the tale of the apes rising to become the dominant species on the planet (with a little help from an intelligence enhancing drug, and a virulent human-killing disease), Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (as the sequel is now officially called) is now due to be released on May 23rd 2014.
