Rise of the Planet of the Apes International Trailer

We’ve already had a teaser trailer, an extremely brief look at some SFX footage, posters, photos, and some real trailers, but now there’s a trailer for the upcoming Planet of the Apes prequel; Rise of the Planet of the Apes; targeted just at the British film-loving public.

Featuring its fair share of new footage, the latest trailer gives us a better look at John Lithgow’s (Dexter) alzheimer suffering character; the inspiration for his son Will (James Fracno, 127 Hours) searching for the mind-boosting cure that eventually leads to the super-intelligent apes leading a war against their oppressive captors; and the relationship between the family and their original test subject Caesar (Andy Serkis, The Lord of the Rings); an ape who becomes extraordinarily intelligent, clearly cares for Will’s father, but won’t stand for getting abused.

Other new footage comes in the form of seeing Tom Felton (Harry Potter) being less than caring towards Caesar and the other apes that reside in his father’s (Brian Cox, Manhunter) simian sanctuary, and a little more of the eventual war that will form the crux of the film’s finale, and show how the apes took control of the planet.

Rupert Wyatt (The Escapist) has directed the film that also stars Freida Pinto (Slumdog Millionaire) and is due to be released in the US on August 5th, before making its UK release date on August 12th.
