Director Rob Cohen, known for his over-the-top, action extravaganzas like xXx and  The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, will be directing a heist thriller/natural disaster actioner called Category 5.

Category 5 follows a group of tech hackers who infiltrate a U.S. Mint facility on a small town to steal $102 million in cash. Unfortunately for them, a category 5 hurricane is on its way to level the city. The only other two people left in town, a meteorologist and a treasure agent, must figure out how they’re going to survive the storm while also trying to stop the robbers from succeeding in their grand heist.

Cohen said, “Crossing a heist movie set amidst the intense action of a natural disaster was an idea to which I truly responded. It’s a chance for me to get back to my roots in doing the adrenaline-pumped action/special effects films I love to create.”

Production on Category 5 will begin in Spring/Summer 2016.
