Scarpa Scores Sylvester Stallone

Sylvester StalloneWith the upcoming release of the third (and apparently final) Expendables movie, Sylvester Stallone show no signs of slowing down, and has just signed on to star as real-life mob enforcer Gregory Scarpa in the upcoming crime-movie/biopic Scarpa.

Scripted by Nicholas Pileggi (a man who’s writing credits on both Goodfellas and Casino give him more than an acceptable nod of experience in the field of mob movies), Scarpa is being produced by regular Stallone collaborator Avi Lerner (the man behind The Expendables, Rambo, and a string of action movies such as Conan the Barbarian, The Mechanic, and Olympus Has Fallen), directed by Brad Furman (The Lincoln Lawyer), and is follow the life of the sociopathic enforcer who earned the nicknames ‘The Mad Hatter’, and ‘The Grim Repaer.’

Suspected of not only murdering his own family, Gregory Scarpa worked for the Colombo crime family, and used to brag that he’d murdered at least 50 people before he finally became an FBI informant (something which still wasn’t enough to escape multiple murder charges), lost an eye in a shootout (whilst under house arrest no less), and eventually died in prison in 1984 (from AIDS-related complications); meaning there should be plenty of action, and drama, in the upcoming biopic which is due to begin shooting early next year.
