See Russell Crowe as Noah

While everyone’s at least a little familiar with the biblical tale of Noah’s Ark, Balck Swan director Darren Aronofsky will be bringing the tale to life on the big screen in the upcoming biblical epic Noah, and has just released the first image of Robin Hood’s Russell Crowe as the titular ark-builder online; via USA Today (now available to view below).

While the image doesn’t exactly show very much of the movie (there’s no ark, flood, or animals visible; in fact there’s nothing on show except Crowe’s bearded face), we do know that Noah is being filmed in Iceland, has been written by Gladiator’s John Logan and director Darren Aronofsky, and isn’t exactly the traditional re-telling many may be expecting.

Jennifer Connolly (Labyrinth), Logan Lerman (Percy Jackson), Anthony Hopkins (Thor), Kevin Durand (Real Steel), Ray Winstone (The Departed), and Dakota Goyo (Real Steel) will all co-star in the movie which will see Noah consulting with giant six-armed angels called ‘Watchers’ when it’s released on March 28th 2014 in both the US and UK.
