Seven Samurai Remake Finds Director

Despite the fact we’ve already witnessed the release of about a dozen; or at least a Magnificent Seven; remakes of Akira Kurosawa’s 1954 classic Seven Samurai, The Weinstein Company is moving ahead with their planned remake, and have just named Scott Mann (The Tournament) as its director.

Mann will be further developing, and shooting from a script by John Fusco (Young Guns); which despite keeping the idea of a town under threat, brings the concept forward by placing the film’s seven fighting heroes into a turbulent area of present day Thailand; although there’s currently no word on any cast members, shooting schedule, or release date.
