Speaking on The Graham Norton Show, Martin Freeman recently said he would be returning as TV John Watson to Benedict Cumberbatch’s Sherlock, with the fourth season of the BBC’s hit show set to air “around Christmas.”

Obviously “around Christmas” is just an estimate, but it’s a solid one from someone who’s at least partially in the know and confirmed they are “back filming three shows now.”

Early reports had Sherlock Season 4 airing in 2017, and that could still be the case as the Christmas period could mean we get another New Years Day airing (as was the case with the recent special ‘The Abominable Bride’), but either way it’s extremely positive to hear more Sherlock is on the way; especially as it’s already been over two years since season 3 ended.
