Machete Kills coverAfter bursting onto our screens back in 2010 with the gloriously over the top Mexploitation action/comedy Machete (which scored an impressive 9 out of 10 in our review), Danny Trejo is back as the ex-Federal agent with a grudge, a huge knife, and all the women he wants, in Machete Kills; the latest film from visionary director Robert Rodriguez (Sin City).

Machete Kills sees Machete recruited by the President of the United States (introducing Carlos Estevez – aka Platoon’s Charlie Sheen) to take on a task that would be impossible for any mere mortal; to eliminate a madman billionaire arms dealer (Mel Gibson, How I Spent My Summer Vacation), who’s planning to spread war and anarchy across the globe.

With a cast that includes not only Trejo, Sheen, and Gibson, but returning stars Michelle Rodriguez and Jessica Alba, as well as Sofia Vergara (Modern Family), Amber Heard (Drive Angry), Lady Gaga (the singer), Antonio Banderas (Desperado), Walton Goggins (Django Unchained), and Cuba Gooding Jr. (Men of Honour), Machete Kills promises to be another hilariously over the top action romp when it’s released on Blu-ray and DVD on February 17th.

As well as the standard DVD and Blu-ray releases, there’s also a limited edition Blu-ray steelbook release (available exclusively through Zavvi), with artwork designed by Machete Kills fan Thomas Walker; who had his design chosen by Machete himself, from scores of fantastic entires to a competition hosted on Empire Magazine’s website.

Machete Kills is out now on Blu-ray and DVD, courtesy of Lionsgate, and to get you in the mood for the film you can watch a brand new Machete-inspired Vine below, followed by an official trailer.
