Stallone Gets Walter Hill to Direct Headshot

Since Crossing Over’s Wayne Kramer left the director’s chair on the Sylvester Stallone (The Expendables) starring action movie (or rather was ‘let go’ by producers), Stallone has made no bones about hiding the fact he wanted to have Walter Hill direct the movie; a wish he’s no seen granted, as Hill’s involvement has now been officially confirmed.

While the studio were apparently meeting with a number of other director’s it seems as though Stallone’s pressure (and Hill’s incredible backlog of action movies) won over the executives, and landed Hill the job of directing Headshot; a movie based on the French comics by Alexis Nolent, that will see Sly playing a hitman who joins forces with an as yet un-cast cop to investigate a series of brutal murders.

Having worked on such classic movies as 48 Hours, The Warriors, Southern Comfort, and Wild Bill, as well as setting the tone for HBO’s Deadwood, there’s no questioning Walter’s credibility, or the fact that many fans will be glad to see him directing his first theatrical picture since 2002’s Undisputed; including Stallone, who said “we’ve been on the same track since The Driver” and “then 48 Hours didn’t happen either, so here we are 35 years later, and I’m finally driving with Walter Hill.”

So far no other cast members, start date, or release date have been given for the film; which is being presented not only as an action movie about some fairly vicious murders, but also a dark comedy; however now that Hill is on board, production should begin moving swiftly along, to hit a projected release sometime next year.
