An extremely brief production video has just been released, informing us that production has officially begun on Star Wars: Episode VIII.

Disney have confirmed the majority of The Force Awakens key cast members will be returning for Episode VIII – with Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, and Andy Serkis all set to return.

Sicario star Benicio Del Toro is also set to join the cast (supposedly playing a key villain), and will be joined by Kelly Marie, and Laura Dern (Jurassic Park) for the film which will be largely shot in London’s Pinewood Studios alongside locations in Ireland and Croatia, and directed by Looper‘s Rian Johnson.

Star Wars: Episode VIII is due to be released worldwide on December 15th next year, following the release of spin-off movie Star Wars: Rogue One on December 16th this year.
