Star Wars: The Force Awakens – Official Title Announced for Episode VII

Yes, in an odd move Disney seem to have dropped the all-but confirmed use of “Episode VII” from the title of its new and upcoming Star Wars movie, as the official title for the film has just been announced as Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

While there’s still very little known about the apparent plot of the film, and this new announcement does more to raise questions than answer them, we do know The Force Awakens will be the first in a new trilogy of Star Wars movies produced by new studio home Disney, is being directed by J.J. Abrams (Star Trek), and will star not only returning actors Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Harrison Ford (Han Solo), and Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia), but Andy Serkis (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), Domhnall Gleeson (Dredd), Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones), Oscar Isaac (Drive), and Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years a Slave) among others, when it’s released on December 18th 2015, in both the US and UK.
