Stars of The Raid Join Star War Episode VII

The Raid 4After breaking through to an international market with Gareth Evans’ hugely impressive action movie The Raid, and making it onto our Top Films of 2014 lists with The Raid 2: Berandal, three stars from The Raid have just been added to the roster for the upcoming Star Wars Episode VII (or Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens to use its full title).

Iko Uwais, Yayan Ruhian, and Cecep Arif Rahman are the three names which’ve been added to the cast list, and while it’s not yet clear who they’ll be starring as, they’ll be joining a cast which includes the likes of Star Wars veterans Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Peter Mayhew, Anthony Daniels, Kenny Baker, and even Warwick Davis, as well as Oscar Isaac (Drive), Andy Serkis (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), Domhnall Gleeson (Unbroken), Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years A Slave), Max Von Sydow (Shutter Island), Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones) and Greg Grunberg (Heroes).

Directed by J.J. Abrams (the man behind the recent Star Trek movie franchise reboot, and many a successful sci-fi), The Force Awakens is set to be the first in a new Star Wars trilogy, taking place a number of years after the events of the original trilogy, and is due to be released on December 18th in both the US and UK (when it’s quickly expected to become one of the biggest films of the year).
