Suicide Squad Loses Tom Hardy

Tom HardyWhile his name may have been a big draw, it appears as if the upcoming Warner bros./DC Comics Suicide Squad movie has now lost Tom Hardy (the man who played Bane in The Dark Knight Rises) from it’s planned super-villiain mash-up; but has already begun eyeing a replacement, a the form of Jake Gyllenhaal (Nightcrawler).

While the reasons for hardy’s exit are unclear at the moment (the official story stating scheduling conflicts; including a busy Mad Max: Fury Road press tour, and extended shoot for The Revenant interfering with the Squad’s April start date; but rumours suggest a dislike of the script/the focus lying too heavily on other characters), it is clear that Hardy will no longer be playing Rick Flagg; the leader of the DC villains’ Suicide Squad, who’re brought together by the government in order to complete a number of deadly missions.

Should Gyllenhaal step in and take up the Flagg, he’ll be joining a cast which already includes the likes of Jared Leto (Dallas buyers Club); as the Joker; Margot Robbie (The Wolf Of Wall Street); as Harley Quinn; Will Smith (Men In Black); as Deadshot; Jai Courtney (Divergent); as Boomerang; and Cara Delevingne (Anna Karenina); as Enchantress.

Viola Davis (The Help) and Jesse Eisenberg (Zombieland) are also rumoured to star as Amanda Waller (the government bod in charge of the Suicide Squad) and Lex Luthor respectively, in the David Ayer (Fury) directed movie which will begin filming in Toronto this April, ahead of an official release date of August 5th 2016 in both the US and UK.
