So we’ve had our first look at CBS’ Supergirl in a whopping 6 minute trailer.
I’m quite happy with this. I feel the character of SG has way more potential in today’s market of female empowering TV and they’ve gone down the right tracks with Superman’s female older cousin trying to find her spot in the world, wanting to be normal and being useful with her powers at same time.
Didn’t think much of the lesbian line, just unnecessary. The fact it seems to be SG vs. whatever alien of the week is too X-Files for it’s own good. Some of the supporting cast seem lifeless and not fully rounded… yet. Soundtrack is par course.
But then Kara trading barbed snipes with Ally McBeal and a teen/young adult attitude to superheroics (“Oh come on!” when landing the plane through the bridge was bang on) has potential. Plus, I’d really like to see a proper Superman/Kryptonian show which doesn’t shy away from the powers and cape. Wasn’t interested at first but now I am!
