Terminator 5 Reuniting the Original Cast?

0

It was just last week that we heard the original Terminator star, and icon, Arnold Schwarzenegger is attached to a new Terminator project that’s being shopped to major Hollywood studios (with Universal, and Sony/Lionsgate, looking to be the most interested), but now it appears more stars from the first Terminator movie may be returning to the franchise.

Quoting someone only described as “a real source”, The Latino Review (who have a good track record with breaking exclusive stories, and have more than once been ahead of the curve with news on the upcoming Man Of Steel) have revealed that the “entire original cast” are attached to the potential Terminator 5; not just Schwarzenegger.

While the news would be a guaranteed draw for fans of the once great sci-fi franchise, that has been sagging somewhat of late (ever since the exit of creator James Cameron, which left the two most recent movies devoid of direction and heart, and a TV series that simply couldn’t do justice to its origins), it’s unclear at this point what “the entire original cast” actually means; if Linda hamilton would reprise her role as Sarah Connor, if Michael Biehn would return as Kyle Reese, and if Edward Furlong (last seen doing a tiny bit-part in The Green Hornet) would return to the role that made him (John Connor), or if that part would once again be played by Christian Bale (who filled the role in Terminator: Salvation, and had originally signed to appear in a further two Terminator flicks; contingent on the success of Salvation).

Still, it’s going to be a while before Terminator 5; or Terminator 2012 as the recent reports have dubbed it (due to unconfirmed rumours that it would involve time-traveling back to the present day); is released; as not only has it not yet been picked up by a studio, but there’s also no script, no director (although it appears as though Fast Five’s Justin Lin would have the job should universal secure the deal), and no start date; so we can expect plenty more rumours, unconfirmed reports, and eventually official announcements, regarding the film before it eventually gets underway.
