Terminator: Genisys Sequel Dropped by Paramount

TERMINATOR GENISYS

While the buzz may have been high for Terminator: Genisys (particularly with Arnold Schwarzenegger returning to play the T-800 once more) it wasn’t well received upon release, was generally considered a Box Office failure, and has now seen its sequel dropped from Paramount’s upcoming release schedule.

While the majority of critics and audiences alike tore into Genisys, it did prove to be an international Box Office success (making over $440m – thanks in large part to the Chinese market), nevertheless its poor reception and woeful underperformance in the US market (which is clearly weighted too high the minds of many studio executives) have led Paramount to scupper plans for the new trilogy which Genisys was supposed to begin (potentially even leading to another Terminator TV series).

Still, that gap in the release schedule has already been filled, as Paramount have now placed the Dwayne Johnson, Zac Efron, and Alexandra Daddario  starring Baywatch reboot for release on May 19th 2017.
