We all know that January-released movies (especially horrors) are renowned as being the year’s greatest cinematic offerings. Accompanying future masterpieces like Ride Along 2Fifty Shades of Black and Norm of the North will be The Boy, which, in all seriousness, looks to have a bit more to offer than the aforementioned classics. The final trailer for the horror film has just been released.

Written by Stacey Menear and directed by William Brent Bell (The Devil Inside), The Boy follows nanny Greta as she finds herself in a remote English village to look after a family’s young boy, who turns out to be a life-sized doll. After she violates a strict set of rules left to her by “his” parents, some disturbing things start to happen which leads Greta into thinking that the doll might actually be alive.

Starring as Greta is Lauren Cohan (The Walking Dead), while co-starring will be Rupert Evans (Hellboy), James Russell, Jim Norton (Water For Elephants), Diana Hardcastle (The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel) and Ben Robson (Vikings).

The Boy will be released in US theatres on January 22, but won’t make its way to the UK until February 19.
