Susan Sarandon (Stepmom) stars as Detective Inspector Hazel Micallef, a woman with a bad back, who has an over-reliance on painkillers, and doesn’t mind the odd drink to take the edge off, but has her tranquil existence rocked when a brutal murder is discovered in her quiet town, and leads to the search for an unrelenting serial killer; as seen in the official trailer for The Calling (now available to view below).
Co-starring Topher Grace (Predators), Gil Bellows (The Shawshank Redemption), and Donald Sutherland (The Mechanic), the Jason Stone directed thriller, based on Inger Ash Wolfe’s novel, looks like it’ll be one to watch when it’s released on August 29th in the US, ahead of its official UK release date on October 10th.
