Action fans the world over applauded when Sylvester Stallone (Rocky, Rambo, Stop! or My Mom Will Shoot) announced his plans to bring a selection of the best 80s, and modern, action heroes together in what became the explosion-fest that was The Expendables; an unexpected Box Office hit, which has now spawned a sequel – the teaser trailer for which has just been released online, and is available to view below.
Returning for The Expendables 2, Stallone (who’s simply starring, and writing, this time around; having passed directing duties onto Con Air’s Simon West) is once again joined by Jason Statham (The Mechanic), Jet Li (Unleashed), Dolph Lundgren (Universal Soldier), Terry Crews (Everybody Hates Chris), and MMA star Randy Couture, alongside Expendables newcomers Jean-Claude Van Damme (Timecop), Chuck Norris (Walker Texas Ranger), and Liam Hemsworth (Knowing).
Arnold Schwarzenegger (Commando) and Bruce Willis (Die Hard) will also be returning (in highly expanded roles), and it’s Willis’ character Church who sends The Expendables on their latest mission; a quest which sees the gang heading into hostile territory on a quest for vengeance after one of their own are killed, and some weapons-grade plutonium threatens the very safety of the world; when The Expendables 2 is released on August 17th 2012 in the US (and presumably on a similar date in the UK).
