With the original Swedish adaptation of Steig Larsson’s The Girl trilogy (consisting of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played With Fire, and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest) being so instantly well received upon release, and doing much better business than most non-english speaking movies, it should come as no surprise that the web is now buzzing with talk of the Hollywood remake; which has just had its first trailer released online (now available to view below).
Written by Steve Zaillian (American Gangster), and directed by David Fincher (Fight Club), the remake of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo will star Daniel Craig (Casino Royale), Stellan Skarsgard (Good Will Hunting), Rooney Mara (The Social Network), Robin Wright (Forrest Gump), Christopher Plummer (A Beautiful Mind), Joely Richardson (Nip/Tuck), and is due to open in the US on December 21st this year, and will be released in the UK on December 26th; when it promises to be “The feel-bad movie of Christmas.”
