The Green Hornet Trailer

The Green Hornet is one superhero that might not quite be as well known as Spiderman, Iron Man, Batman, Superman, or a good deal of other popular comic-book characters, but then The Green Hornet was actually created for a radio program, rather than a traditional comic-strip, and has since received his own comic-book series, film serials, and a television series that aired in 1966/67, and has now been made into a fully-fledged big-screen adaptation.

Some sort of movie take on the character has been in development for decades, with everyone from George Clooney (Ocean’s 11) and Kevin Smith (Cop-Out), to Jet-Li (who can soon be seen in The Expendables) and Jake Gyllenhaal (Prince of Persia: the Sands of Time), being attached at one point or another, but after Sony announced in 2008 that they would be producing the picture, Seth Rogen (Knocked Up) and Evan Goldberg (Superbad) took up the writing duties, and really got things moving again.

The plot is being drawn from both the radio and television incarnations of the character, and will tell the story of Britt Reid (Rogen); a newspaper publisher who moonlights as a masked crimefighter (along with his masked valet Kato; who will be played by Taiwanese musician Jay Chou), but is looked down upon by legitimate law enforcement agencies, as he is often seen casually talking with known criminals, and doing business with them.

Cameron Diaz (The Box) will be also be joining the cast under the direction of Michel Gondry (Be Kind Rewind) , in a movie that is pretty hard to judge at this point; as the two trailers that have been released so far have received mix receptions, and have a comedic tone that has never really been tested in the superhero world before; nevertheless, production is still moving ahead, and the film will receive it’s official release (after it’s converted into 3D) on January 14th next year.

But for anyone who just can’t wait that long (or is dying to see the new, heavily armed, supercar), the new international trailer can be seen below.
