Hobbit The Battle of the Five Armies Comic Con Poster

All has been quiet in the land of Middle Earth for sometime, yet taking to the halls of Comic-Con this weekend fans of J.R.R. Tolkien’s fantasy world, and the multi-award-winning movies Peter Jackson has made from it, were gifted to seeing a brand new poster (now available to view on the right, and enlarged by clicking) for the upcoming third movie in The Hobbit trilogy; The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies.

Having reached the dragon’s lair in The Desolation of Smaug (the excellent second chapter in The Hobbit trilogy), The Battle of the Five Armies will show audiences (who’re unfamiliar with the novel on which the films are based) once and for all if the Dwarves can reclaim, and hold, their homeland of Erebor, as well as giving us a huge dose of dragon action, battles, and a host of returning Lord of the Rings stars.

Once more directed by Peter Jackson, from a script co-written by Jackson Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens, and Guillermo del Toro, The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies will star Martin Freeman, Richard Armitage, Ian McKellen, the voice of Benedict Cumberbatch, and Luke Evans, Lee Pace, Evangeline Lilly, Cate Blanchett, Orlando Bloom, Hugo Weaving, Christopher Lee, Billy Connolly, Ian Holm, Sylvester McCoy, James Nesbitt, Graham McTavish, Aidan Turner, Dean O’Gorman, Ken Scott, and Peter Hambleton, when it’s released in 3D, IMAX 3D, HFR (high frame rate) 3D, and standard 2d, on December 12th in the UK, ahead of the official US release date on December 17th.
