The Inbetweeners Movie Tops the UK Box Office

Making the leap from small-time comedy to becoming E4’s biggest ever hit was quite an achievement in itself, but now the lads have gone one better, and one better again; as The Inbetweeners has now hit the big screen for the first time, and managed to top the UK Box Office on its first day of release.

Fans of the show have been unsurprisingly excited to see the lads’ big screen outing ever since The Inbetweeners Movie was announced, and clearly flocked to see the film as soon as previews began; as while it previewed at only 409 sites, it managed to take in over £2.5 million on its first day, and rocketed to the coveted top spot on the Box Office rankings.

It’s clear that this sudden rush of fan excitement left cinema chains unprepared; as after the impressive first-day results exhibitors were clamoring to open up more screens where possible, in order to cope with the unexpectedly volume of fans and cinemagoers that saw numerous screens selling out amazingly quickly.

Previews have now ended, and The Inbetweeners Movie has gone on general release; meaning it can be seen nationwide (as long as there’s still a spare seat in your local multiplex); and you can now see Will (Simon Bird), Simon (Joe Thomas), Jay (James Buckley), and Neil (Blake Harrison), go on a hilarious lads holiday, in the film which marks the end of the impressive, award-winning, utterly hilarious, teen-comedy that was The Inbetweeners.
