Adapted from Chris Claremont and Frank Miller’s 1982 comic series, The Wolverine will be the next X-Men prequel to focus on the titular mutant (following on from X-Men Origins: Wolverine), once again stars Hugh Jackman in the lead role, and has just had its first official still released online (now available to view below).

Due to be directed by James Mangold (Knight and Day), The Wolverine has been scripted by The Usual Suspects‘ Christopher McQuarrie and Mark Bomback (Total Recall), will find Wolverine travelling to Japan in order to train with a samurai warrior, and, should Jackman get his way, will find a more brutal looking character and world forming the centre of the film which is due to be released on July 26th next year in both the US and UK.
